Amanda Preston Alger, 29, of Menominee (formerly of Wilson), passed away on Friday, February 29, 2008, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, following a 6 month illness.
Amanda was born on July 7, 1978 in Iron Mountain, the daughter of John Preston and ReBecca Bruso. She was raised in Wilson and graduated from North Central High School in1996.
Following high school, she moved to Menominee and attended North East Wisconsin Technical College in Marinette, graduated in 2006 as an LPN.
Amanda worked for her parent's restaurant, Becca's Diner and Dairy Treat in Menominee for ten years. Prior to her illness in September, she was employed with Aurora Health Center in Marinette.
She loved to dance, go camping with her kids, and make people laugh. She enjoyed bartending.
Amanda was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Menominee.
Survivors include her parents, John Preston of Menominee and ReBecca Preston of Sheboygan Falls, WI; three sons, Nicholas, Andrew, and Bradley all of Menominee; two sisters, Rachel Preston of Menominee and Danielle (Travis) Meyer of Plymouth, WI; her fiancÚ, John Winters of Menominee and his children, Kaylee, Riley, and Karra; maternal grandparents, David (Dianna) Bruso of Menominee and Judy (Jerry) Mingle of Texas; a nephew; two nieces; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Amanda was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert and Genny Preston; and maternal great grandparents, Joseph and Myrtle Saunier and Clement and Pearl Bruso. Pearl passed away two days after Amanda, on March 2nd.
