Anna M. Alford, 78, of Raleigh, died Sunday, July 5, 1998.

She was the wife of the late Hilliard B. Alford. A gifted and loving mother to her four children, Mrs. Alford was an active member of Sacred Heart Cathedral.

There she served as Registrar for the Catholic Daughters of America from 1952 to 1956 and a member of the Alter Society. She was a Kindergarten teacher at Cathedral Latin Elementary from 1966 to 1972. Mrs. Alford was the General Manager of American Answering Service and Physicians Exchange from 1972 through 1988.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are: son, Francis R. Alford of Phoenix, AZ; daughters, Elizabeth A. Hedgecock of Colfax, Regina A. Wilson of Raleigh, Mary Alford-Carman of Clayton; brothers, Thomas, Frank and Michael King, all of New Jersey; sisters, Magdalene Blue, Kathleen Petrone, and Regina Wisniewski, all of New Jersey; 13 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's Street. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
