BENTON [Bossier Parish], LA—Doris Martin Balch Alford entered into rest Monday, December 6, 2004 after a lengthy illness.
Doris was born in Nacogdoches County Texas, on June 13, 1918 and was a long time resident of the Shreveport/Bossier area. She was the owner and operator of Doris’ Beauty Shop from 1941–1991.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Temple Alford.
She is survived by Jerry “Beau” Balch of Vicksburg, MS, George Alford of Gladewater, TX, David Alford of Heavener, OK, Kay Loftin of Benton, LA, Dora E. “Sissy” Lataxes of Westwego, LA; sister, Era Fountain of Center, TX; thirteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews....
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2004 in the Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gifts or memorials may be made to the American Stroke Association.
Pallbearers will be David Alford, Jr., Chad Loftin, Christopher Loftin, Jesse Lataxes, Tre Lanier, Carl Balch, and Terry Metcalf. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Loftin and Michael Alford.
