The Rev. George W. Alford, 82, of 310 Lakeview Circle, died April 11, 2000, at his residence.

A native of Dyersburg, Tenn., he was a son of the late Noah Percy and Lucy Mustain Alford, a member of the Greer Church of God and a retired Church of God minister.

Rev. Alford was ordained minister with the Church of God, Cleveland, Tenn., on May 27, 1948. His Pastorates include York Church of God, Fort Mill Church of God and Greer Church of God.

His general church appointments were: Member of the General Executive Council, State Overseer of Colorado/Wyoming, World Missions Field Representative and he was a member of the World Missions Board.

Other positions include State Director of Evangelism and Home Missions, South Carolina; member of South Carolina Church of god State Council; Speaker of Conferences and Conventions in USA and Foreign Countries and Evangelist.

Surviving are one sister, Velma Sanders of Dyersburg, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Praise Cathedral Church of God, Greer….

Funeral services will be held in Dyersburg, Tenn., Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at J.W. Curry and Son Funeral Home, Dyersburg, Tenn….
