A pall of sorrow was cast over Leakesville, Thursday, June 15 at 12:30 p. m., when George Lee Alford, aged 72 years, passed away after a lingering illnes of several months.
Mr. Alford served as janitor for the Greene county courthouse for many years.
He was married twice. His first wife was Miss Lizzie Currie; his second wife Miss Luvenna Huggins, both preceded him to the grave.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Pearlie Holland and Mrs. Minnie Elliott, Leakesville, Miss.; two sons, Boyd Alford, Buccatunna, Miss., and Roy Alford, Leakesville; three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Green, Prichard, Ala., Mrs. Rodie Fountain, Crichton, Ala.; two brothers, John Alford, Leakesville, and Julius Alford, Mobile, Alabama, and nineteen grand children and four great grand children.
Funeral services were held at 3 p. m., Friday, June 16, with Rev. W. E. Stewart, Leakesville, in charge, with interment in Mount Pisgah cemetery, with McKay's Morticians in charge of burial rites.
Pall bearers were: Murdoc Walley, S. J. Hillman, M. A. Williams, G. E. Brannon, H. E. McInnis and C. O. Thomas. Published in the Greene County [MS] Herald, 23 Jun 1939.

Gravesite Details
In 2020 a Find A Grave photographer reported that the cemetery office has no record of his burial here. The photographer searched the cemetery anyway and could not find a gravestone.
