Lawrence, Alexius, a retired truck driver and a resident of Uneedus, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. He was 81 and a native of Folsom. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Visitation was at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday. Visitation at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Sam Leto. Interment in New Hope Pentecostal Church Cemetery.
Survived by six sons, Donald Alexius, California, Walter Alexius, Austin, Texas, Kenneth Alexius, Stilwell, Okla., Joseph Alexius, Poplarville, Miss., and Leon Alexius and Ronald Alexius, both of Covington; five daughters, Dolly Gregoire, Folsom, Constance Woods, Slidell, Sherrijean Husser, Hammond, June Trypaluk, Holbrook, N.Y., and LaDonna Williams, Baton Rouge; three sisters, Wilhemina Sykes, Jackson, Miss., Eunice Pierre, Mandeville, and Gertrude Valdez, El Sobrante, Calif.; a brother, Welton Alexius, Lake Tahoe, Nev.; 34 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, Callie Rodriguez Alexius; a daughter, Lorraine Alexius; two sons, Terry and Paul Alexius; a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter, four brothers and two sisters.
