Adam Wilson "A.W." Alexander, 70, of 3118 Falling Brook Drive, Kingwood, Texas, formerly of Ellsworth (Cokeburg Junction), died Wednesday, April 11, 1984, in the home of his daughter.
He was born January 17, 1914, in Alverton, Fayette County, a son of Adam and Gertrude Kelley Alexander.
He was a retired coal miner who was employed by the Bethlehem Mine Corp., Ellsworth Division, and was a member of UMW Local 1197 of Cokeburg.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of Charleroi.
On May 10, 1942, he married Catherine Rusilko Alexander, who died on Cecember 3, 1982.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Vijay (Katheryn) Garg of Kingwood, Texas; a son, Daniel W. Alexander of Charleroi R.D. 1; five grandchildren, Kristing Garg, Tracy Garg, Sabrina Garg, Kirk Alexander and Tammy Alexander; two brothers, Earl Alexander of Waynesburg and Bill Alexander of Florida; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Clutter of Philadelphia and Mrs. Violet Ball of Fredericktown; and several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Joyce Alexander, died September 16, 1967. A brother, Arnold Alexander, and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Miller, also are deceased.
