Alta A. Alexander Age 78, wife of the late Robert K. Alexander, passed away on Friday morning, November 17, 2000 at I.H.S. of Delaware in Smyrna. Mrs. Alexander has made her home at the Smyrna facility since May of 1997.
She was born in Denton, MD on July 12, 1922, the daughter of the late Thomas Wesley and Nellie Twilley Bradley. She was raised in Denton and a graduate of Denton High School. She was married to Mr. Alexander on November 19, 1943 and made her home in FL, Baltimore and Cambridge. In 1956 she moved to New Castle, DE where she was employed at the Dela-ware State Hospital as a cook until retiring in 1987.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Diane Walker of Bear, DE, Bobbie Kaye of Wyoming, DE, and Karen Di Mattia of Townsend, DE; 1 son, Gregory A. Alexander of New Castle County, DE; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Virginia Lane of Denton; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are 3 brothers, Rev. Calvin Bradley, Gilbert Bradley, and Page Bradley.
A funeral service will be conducted at the THOMAS FUNERAL HOME in Cambridge on Tuesday afternoon at 1 pm by Rev. Douglas M. Ridley, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will take place in East New Market Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday during the hour before the service.
