Adele "A.J." Alexander, 84, of Louisville, died Monday at Good Samaritan Nursing Center. She was a registered nurse and LPN and also a retired employee of the general services administration department of the Census Bureau of Indiana. She was a member of Youngs Chapel AME Church and also attended Watson Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Alexander; a son, George V. Alexander Jr.; granddaughter, Xiondria Alexander; grandsons, J. William Payne IV and George Alexander III; sisters-in-law, Mary L. Alexander and E. Agnita Redley; a brother-in-law, James G. (Mable) Alexander Sr.; cousin, A. Katheryne Richards; good friends, Chris Dawson and Ernestine and Al Fowler; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved dog, Sir A.J. Pierre. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral Home, with entombment in Resthaven Mausoleum. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
