Donald passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Saginaw Pines, age 89 years. Donald was born in North Bradley, Michigan August 12, 1920 the son of the late Roland and Hazel (Lambert) Alexander.
He married Grace Welch December 1, 1942. She predeceased him July 31, 1991.
He was the co-founder and co-owner of Dixie Tools in Bridgeport. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Donald is survived by three grandchildren, Dawn and Ron Cook, St. Charles; Heather and Richard Reed, II, Bridgeport and Julie and Sean Hecht, Bridgeport; six great-grandchildren, Amanda Cook, Kyle Alexander, Brooke and Elizabeth Hecht, Ashley and Samantha Reed ; his brother, Roland Alexander, Jr.
In addition to his wife, Donald was predeceased by his son, Dennis Alexander May 18, 2009.
The funeral service will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009 at W. L. Case & Company, 5700 Dixie Highway. Rev. Douglas Kahl will officiate with entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum.
Friends may visit with the family at the chapel on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
