Laura Victoria Alexander Grider, 88 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, April 26th, 2014 at the Alvista Care Home in Greenville, Georgia.

Laura was born in Burkesville, Kentucky on January 3rd, 1926, daughter of the late Harry Sr. and Mattie Groves Alexander. She was a seamstress for the Garrett Taylor Shop in Somerset, Kentucky.

Laura was survived by two sons, Stanley Grider and Frederick Kyle (and Sonya) Grider, both of Fayetteville, Georgia; four grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Alexander Sr., who departed this life on December 22nd, 1955 and Mattie Alexander, who departed this life on October 22nd, 1956; her loving husband, James William Grider; five brothers, Harry Alexander Jr., John William "J.W." Alexander, Joe Alexander, Thomas Lee Alexander, and Howard Alexander; and a sister who died in infancy.

Visitations were held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2nd, 2014 at the Davis Chapel, A.M.E. on Main Street in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 at the Davis Chapel, A.M.E with the Reverend Everhart Walker officiating.

Interment followed in the Waterview Cemetery, also known as the Mount Moriah Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky.
