Naomi Alexander

Naomi Allois Van Pelt Alexander, died May 17,2004, at the age of 85. Services were held Thursday, May 20, 2004, at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Plainview with the Dr Max Browning officiating. Interment was in Wellington under the direction of Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.

Naomi was born October 14, 1918 to Grady Ernest and Ava McCaskill Van Pelt near Greenville in Hunt County. She graduated from Wellington High School and attended West Texas State College in Canyon.

Naomi married Olan William Alexander in Hollis March 26, 1938. They lived in Wellington until they moved to Plainview in 1951. She worked at Hale County State Bank, Federal Land Bank, Tulia and Olan Alexander Mortgage Loan Company before retiring in 1990. After retirement she worked as an office volunteer at First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Olan Alexander; a brother, Don VanPelt.

Immediate survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Freddy Bell of Plainview; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Jackie Alexander of San Diego, CA; two brothers, James VanPelt of Amarillo; and Newell VanPelt of Vemon; three granddaughters and husbands, Ten and Kevin Jones of Roanoke; Kristi and Chris Potter, Rhonda Alexander, all of San Diego, CA; a grandson and wife, John and Sara Gates of Austin; three great-grandchildren, Nathan and Aaron Jones of Roanoke; Erik Potter of San Diego, CA; a stepdaughter and husband, Ginger and Manson Porter of Bixby, OK; a step-grandson and wife, Keith and Clarissa Bell of Lubbock; three step-great granddaughters, Chloe, Camille and Kathryn Bell of Lubbock.

The family requests that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church or Soroptimist Happy feet.
