ROCKDALE — Services for Ardelia Mae Alexander, 84, of Houston are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church in Rockdale.

The Rev. S.L. Ross of Springfield Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to the time of the services Saturday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Ms. Alexander died Sunday in Houston Northwest Medical Center.

She was born in Rockdale and lived in Houston 37 years. She was a child care provider and taught school in the Davilla School for 10 years. She also worked in restaurants in Rockdale and was a substitute teacher in Houston. She was a graduate of Paul Quinn College in Waco.

She was preceded in death by a son, L.K. Alexander Jr.; and a daughter, Daisy Marie Wells.

Survivors include two sons, Willie Alexander and Charles West, both of Houston; two daughters, Maxine Hoyle and Delores Rugeley, both of Houston; a sister, Theresa Mae Johnson of Memphis, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
