David M. Alexander passed away unexpectedly May 5, 2011 at the age of 69 in Hoover, Alabama. He was a caring husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. David was born November 4, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was a proud 1959 alumnus of Culver Military Academy in Indiana. He then attended Case Institute of Technology in Ohio, where he earned a Bachelor's degree (1963), Master's degree (1965) and a Doctorate (1968) in biomedical engineering.
David went on to teach at Christian Brothers College in Memphis, TN, while also working as a computer analyst at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He continued his work in computer programming in the Office of Information Field Office (OIFO) in the Department of Veterans Affairs in Memphis, transferring to the Birmingham division in 1986. He retired from that department in 2010.
David was a member of Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian in Hoover since 1986, where he was a fixture at the men's breakfasts and Sunday school classes.
David was preceded in death by his father, Rodger Ellis, and mother, Kathryn Elizabeth.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 45 years Beverly; brother James (Pamela Venz); daughter P.J. Godwin (Richard); son Christopher; nephews Colin and Sean; grandson Nicholas Godwin, and numerous friends and colleagues.
