Alexander BEECH ISLAND, S.C. - Graveside Services for Mr. Pearl Eugene Gene Alexander, 77 of Lamar Drive, who entered into rest September 1, 2012, will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock in Sunset Memory Gardens with Veterans Honors. Rev. Donald J. Shires officiating. Mr. Alexander was a native of Indiana, a former resident of Jackson, SC for 53 years, having made Beech Island his home for the past 3 years. He was a U.S Army Veteran of the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart. Mr. Alexander was a Past Commander of the Beech Island American Legion Post #168 and current member of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post #71. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a retired Truck Driver with over 40 years of service. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Shirley Irene Alexander; four sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Dixie Alexander, Calhoun, GA, Wayne and Cindy Alexander, Beech Island, SC, Bryan Alexander, Beech Island, SC and Mark Alexander, Jackson, SC; a daughter, Elizabeth Alexander, Indiana; a sister in law and her husband, Myrtle and Charles Paul, Muncie, IN; a nephew, Charlie Bob Beck, Galveston, TX, 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be member of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post #71 and Zack Claxton. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.
