John I. Alexander Frozen to Death Near Alden.
John I. Alexander, for many years a resident of Nanticoke, and well known in this city, was found sitting at the foot of a tree near the Alden Coal Works, dead at 2 o'clock this morning. The discovery created considerable excitement in the vicinity, and this morning County Detective Whalen was summoned and went to Nanticoke on the first train, and subsequently to Alden where he viewed the remains, and being satisfied of no foul play gave his permission to the removal of the body.
Alexander was a man much addicted to drink and it is thought was in a drunken stuper when overtaken by death. He was the son of Silas Alexander, and at his father's death came into possession of considerable wealth, which unfortunately was put to no good use. He will be buried in Nanticoke. Deceased has a brother, Ad Alexander, in this city. He was 60 years of age."
