Harold was born in Heard County to the late Roy P. Alexander and Myrtice Walker Alexander . Harold served in the U. S. Army during World War II, but was best known in Franklin as the operator of The Heard Theatre and the owner of Harold's 5 and 10. He retired from the U. S. Post Office in 1981, where he served as a rural carrier and postal clerk
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Inez Prestridge Alexander; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Rosemary Alexander of Tifton; daughter and son-in-law, Benjie and Michelle Alexander of Roopville; grandchildren Abbey Alexander of Tifton, Ron and Karen Smith of Fayetteville, Alex and Karen Lewis of Fayetteville, and eight great-great-grandchildren
