Funeral services for Martha Jean Walling Alexander, 87, of Marshall, Texas, were held in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Colonial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall, Texas.

Mrs. Alexander passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 in Marshall.

Martha was born in Burkburnett, Texas on January 25, 1924 to Charles Augustus Walling and Mona Cullum Walling.

She attended Central Baptist Church in Marshall. She married Myers Allen Alexander on December 22, 1946 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was a homemaker and past Worthy Matron of Order of the Eastern Star in Waskom, having been in the chapter for over fifty years, and was active in the order until her health failed. She was formerly active in PTA and the Library of the school, and other school activities.

Surviving Mrs. Alexander are her husband, Myers Allen Alexander of Marshall; her son, Mike Alexander & wife Mary Yetta of Marshall; two grandchildren, Patrick Alexander & wife Julia of Kilgore, and Andrea Benton & husband Lt. Kendall Benton of Shreveport, LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Patrick, two sisters and three brothers.
