John Earl Aldrich, 89, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Peoria, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, in Tucson.

Born Jan. 11, 1911, in Lorimor, Iowa, to Linus and Mary Short Aldrich, he married Hilda Jane Smith on Nov. 19, 1933. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Dr. Jack of Seattle; one daughter, Jane Prinz of Okinawa, Japan; one sister, Margaret Riggin of Kewanee; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

One sister and one brother preceded him in death.

He had worked for the Peoria Journal Star and Caterpillar Inc. He later worked in aeronautical engineering.

He was a member of Alta Masonic Lodge 748, AF&AM, for more than 50 years.

He was a member and elder at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Tucson. He also was a member of North Tucson Exchange Club.

Masonic graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Prospect Cemetery in Dunlap. There will be no visitation. Bring's Memorial Chapel in Tucson is in charge of arrangements.
