Mrs. Mary Aldrich was born February 4, 1832, in Amity Township, PA., and died at her home at Mount Wayne, October 23rd, 1912, aged almost 81 years, her whole life having been spent in Erie County.
She was married to Mr. John B. Aldrich June 7th, 1849. Eight children were born to them, seven of whom are living, four sons and three daughters, one having died in childhood. The living are as follows: Herbert and Morris, of Amity township; Ira, of California; Willis, of Wayne township; Amelia, of South Dakota; Ella, of Rhu, PA; and Maria, of Elevek, NY. Besides the children she leaves one brother in Iowa and a sister in Washington, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She made a religious profession a number of years ago. For the last ten years she made her home with her son Willis and his wife at Mount Wayne. She was a good Christian woman and the world is all the poorer by her death.
"From above descending spirits move.
To wipe the falling tear from mortal eyes.
To bring to earth the nectar of the skies.
To blend with human griefs their sympathies."
The funeral services were held at her late home Saturday afternoon, October 26th at one o'clock, conducted by the Rev. John F. Wilson, of the Presbyterian church of Wattsburg, PA, and interment was made in the Wattsburg cemetery.
