One of the most prominent and most popular men of Nicholas county closed his career on earth March 4th, 1916, when Joseph A Alderson died at his home one-half miles west of the town of Summersville, aged 57 years. A year ago he was a patient in a Baltimore hospital and later under the care of a Charleston specialist. Mr Alderson belonged to one of the most prominent families in Southern West Virginia. He was a son of Jos A Alderson and a brother of the late Hon John D Alderson and is survived by his wife, who was Miss Laura Peck George, of Sterling, Va, and Edward Alderson of Summersville. He served Nicholas s superintendent of schools, county and circuit clerk and was for some years cashier of the Bank of Summersville and had long been a member of the Baptist Church. The body was buried with Masonic honors on the Peck place near Summersville. Mr Alderson, we understand, leaves a very valuable estate.
