child of Amos Wilson & Liona V (Sutphin) Alderman

17 Years Old

FLOYD, Aug 13 - Victor Alderman, 17-year-old son of Amos Alderman, a farmer residing three miles northwest of this town, was killed almost instantly about 5:30 o'clock yesterday by being crushed by a truck loaded with rock.
Young Alderman was in town, and starting home just as Robertson's truck was passing with a heavy load of rock for the crusher, he asked the driver to let him ride. The driver did not know the young man, but slowed down and let him get on the seat. When the truck reached the forks of the road, just out of town, the young man said, "here's where I get off" and before the driver could check his speed the young man jumped from the truck, was thrown under it and one of the rear wheels passed over his breast, crushing him so that he died in a few minutes after reaching Dr. Yeatt's Hospital.

The family and a brother of the young man were sent for with an automobile, but death occurred before they arrived. Burial will take place tomorrow at the Alderman old home place in Carroll County.
