Mrs. Annie Alder, 90 year old pioneer San Antonio resident, who crossed the Atlantic eight times and who went around the world at the age of 70, died at her home at 721 Burleson street, early Monday morning. Her death followed a recent fall in which she suffered a broken arm, relatives said.
Mrs. Alder lived a picturesque life filled with travels to all corners of the earth from the time that she setttled on Dignowity Hill in San Antonio in 1882. She came here from her birthplace in Gloucester, England.
Though she had made several trips to Europe, Mrs. Alder was not satisfied with what she had seen of the world, and at the advanced age of 70 whe set out for the trip around the earth. She visited relatives in England and in Sydney, Australia.
More than 100 immediate relatives survive Mrs. Alder. She leaves nine children, 46 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Lucy Fowler of Australia.
Mrs. Alder had twelve children. The following survive: Arthur and Samuel Alder, both of San Antonio; Mrs. Minnie Kennedy, Mrs. O. H. Cowles and Mrs. Lavernia Miller, all of this city; Mrs. Julia Smith of Newfield, N. J.; Mrs. Gus Becker of Laredo; Mrs. William Chorley of Australia.
The funeral was scheduled to be held at the family residence at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon, with interment in the family plot in City Cemetery No. 1.
