Archie L. Alden, 81, of Reno, died at 7:25 a.m. Sunday Sept. 21, 2003, in UPMC Northwest, Franklin.

Born Oct. 25, 1921, in Nickleville, he was the son of William and Flora Mays Alden.

Mr. Alden was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He had worked at Oilwell Division of U.S. Steel Corp., and retired from Wolf's Head.

Mr. Alden attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Franklin.

He was married December 6, 1945, to the former Esther Kapp, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Dennis Alden and wife, Debra, of Franklin; two daughters, Connie Alden of Alexandria, Va., and Marsha Brennenan and husband, John, of Richmond, Va., five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He also survived by four sisters, Louise Franklin of Shippenville, Mary Miller and husband, Cleon, of Knox, Lou Bashline and husband, Jim, of Wentlings Corner and Jennifer Wesner of Knox; and two brothers, Harry Alden and wife, Betty, of Wingdale, N.Y., and Ralph Skip Alden of Knox.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Alden was preceded in death by two sisters, Effie Nichols and Rosie Metz; and two brothers, Sylvester Alden and Leonard Alden.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Morrison Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral homw with the Rev. Greg Beeman, oastor of the Franklin Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, officiating.

Interment will be the Reno Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Reno Volunteer Fire Department.
