James Chester Alden died in Port Townsend of complications of diabetes at age 63.
He was born in Lebanon, Mo., to Lt. Col. Samuel E. and Madeline J. (Wood) Alden.
Mr. Alden served with the Army as a code-breaker in Japan before moving to Port Townsend in 1976.
Survivors include brother Jay Alden of Seattle and sister Jackie Alden of Fife.
Services: Thursday, Dec. 30, 5 p.m., wake in Sirens of Port Townsend, 823 Water St., Port Townsend. Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge of arrangements.
