Sarah Priscilla Alden was born on June 30, 1841 in McLeansboro, Hamilton County, Illinois to Royal & Melinda Alden. Sarah was their first daughter and their 8th child. Sarah's mother passed away when she was just two years old. Sarah married John W. Adams on October 19, 1859. They had two children: Ada Melinda Adams born on October 24, 1860 and John W. Adams Jr. born on January 14, 1863. Sarah Priscilla Alden Adams passed away at the age of 21 on May 4, 1863, eight days later their baby son, John W. Adams Jr. passed away on May 12, 1863. It is presumed they are buried together. Sarah Priscilla Alden was a direct descendant of Mayflower Pilgrims John Alden and Priscilla Mullins.
