Obituary - Intelligencer, September 30, 1976
Russell E Alden, a football coach for 17 years, died Saturday at his home on Franklin Avenue, Hatboro. He was 71. He coached Hatboro High football team to its first and only Bux-Mont League title in 1941. He joined the Hatboro School District as an English teacher in 1927. He retired in 1970, the year the Hatboro Horsham School District named the High School field in his honor. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Hatboro and sang in the choir. He was a Mansfield State College graduate. He is survived by his wife, the former Marjorie Cook, two sons, Russell E. Jr. Ivyland, and Robert T., Warminster. There are four grandchildren. Services will be in the Episcopal Church of the Advent, Old York and Byberry roads, at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hatboro Horsham Alumni Scholarship Fund, 229 Meetinghouse Road, Horsham.
