Levi Albright
Levi Albright, a highly respected and
life long citizen of Granby, died at his
home in Cainville, Feb.l, aged sixty-six
years. Mr. Albright was a practical and
successful farmer. In politics he was an
out and out Republican from the beginning,
casting his first vote in 1856 for
John Charles, very much against the
wishes of his father who cast his for
James Buchanan, and has since then
been considered a good representative of
the party, often having the honor of
holding a seat in the different conventions
of the County. Notwithstanding
his very poor health last fall he was
among the first to reach the polls six
miles away, casting his vote for William
McKinley.
In 1862 he enlisted and went to the
front on the Potomac. While there his
willingness and ability to help the sick
and suffering and his genial disposition
made him many warm friends. About
a year ago he had a severe illness from
which he never recovered. His long and
tedious illness was borne with Christian
patience, fortitude and resignation.
