Freddie "Cherries" Albrandt, 84, of Lincoln, was born on December 16th, 1924 to Alexander and Kathryn (Neidendahl) Albrandt and passed away on Saturday (1/17/09), after a short courageous battle with cancer.
Fred grew up in Lincoln, attended Lincoln Public Schools, was baptized,
and at a very young age confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was employed at the "old" Lincoln Star until he left to serve his country from 1943 to 1946 as a Navy Fireman First Class.
Upon returning from the Navy he resumed working for the Lincoln/Journal Star for 54 1/2 years. Retiring in 1995. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #3606, Denton Legion #0355, F.O.E. Aerie 147, and W.S.I.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved companion and best friend E. Jean Strope of Lincoln, Jean's son Randy Strope of Lincoln, Granddaughter Jamie
J. (Waite) Root and spouse Josh Root of Lincoln, Great-Grandson Joshua "Buddy" Root of Lincoln, Greatest neighbors and very best friends Paul and Darlene Mundt
and sons Mitchell and Corbin Mundt of Lincoln, Childhood friend Frances Obosla of Crete, Sister-in-laws Arline Albrandt and Bonnie Albrandt of Lincoln, Nieces, nephews, and many friends, Brother George Albrandt, Daughter Brenda Bolejack and spouse Ed.

Preceded in death by parents, brothers Jake and Henry, Alex Jr. and spouse Edna, sisters Marie and spouse Jim Zimmerman, Olinda and spouse Clarence Schmidt, Kathryn and spouse Bob Mangum.

Services: 3 p.m. Thursday (1/22/09), Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home 6800 South 14th Street. Visitation Wednesday 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Interment Lincoln Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials to Tabitha
