Mary E. Burbery, age 76 of Tonasket, died on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000 at the North Valley Nursing Home in Tonasket.
She was born on July 4, 1923 in Winthrop, to parents Gene and Mary Albin. Mary was raised in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School.
She worked at Winthrop Bank, next as a bookkeeper in Brewster and then moved to Omak where she met her husband in 1950 and was married one year later, to John L. Burbery on May 29, 1951. In 1954, they moved to Tonasket, there raising four boys at the same time working at Regal Fruit Co. She retired after 25 years at Regal Fruit. Mary enjoyed family and friends, knitting, crocheting and sewing.
She is survived by her husband John at home; sons, Gene Burbery of Tonasket, Chuck Burbery of Omak, John A. and wife Wilma Burbery of Tonasket; Jim and Jill Burbery of Chelan; brother, Ray Albin of Omak; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother (Charles William Albin 1935-1996) and one sister (Dorothy Louise Albin Walker 1933-1992).
Services will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2000 at
11 a.m. at the Loomis Community Church with Pastor Matt Sconce, officiating. Interment will follow at the Loomis Mt. View Cemetery. There will be a luncheon following the service at the Tonasket Eagles.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Foundation.
Bergh Funeral Service of Oroville is in charge of arrangements.
