Victor G. Albiero, 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at home. He was born Nov. 13, 1928, to Italian immigrants Frank and Ida Albiero in Crystal Falls, Mich.
Vic's parents had both passed away by the time he was 13. As a result, Vic worked numerous jobs while growing up but still found time to participate in numerous sports and was an all-state running back in football. He graduated from business school in Milwaukee and moved to West Bend to start his career as a salesman with Enger-Kress Leather Company in 1949, served in the Army for two years, then returned to Enger-Kress until he founded Rewards, Inc. in 1974.
Vic married Genevieve Heppe on Jan. 15, 1955. They have six children: Tom (Mary Ann) Albiero, Peggy (Brian) Tornow, Greg Albiero, Jacci (John) Gambucci, Kris Boehmer and Rick (Jacque) Albiero. While raising their family in West Bend, he developed a strong commitment to community as evidenced through his philanthropic spirit with many local organizations. He loved the Lord, golf, fishing and the Green Bay Packers. He was a loving husband to Gen for 58 years, unfaltering father and proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren and a true patriarch. As the "rock" of our family, he will truly be missed.
Vic and Gen are charter members of St. Frances Cabrini Parish where Vic served as a Parish Council member and Finance Committee chair. Vic also served as a charter member of the Lions Club; founding member of the West Bend Little League and helped build the original field; founding member and first president of the Kettle Moraine YMCA, manager for the Partner of Youth fund drive and co-chaired two expansion fund drives; ambassador and board member for the Chamber of Commerce; Board of Directors, chairman of various committees for the West Bend Country Club; member of the Evans Scholarship Committee; president and member of the West Bend Noon Rotary Club where he started the Seafood Fest as a fundraiser for the West Bend Riverwalk and other community projects; president of the National Premium Sales Executive Organization; board member of the American Cancer Society; president of the Board of Advisors for the West Bend Art Museum; member of the original Fair Park Committee; member of the United Way Board; supporter of Casa Guadalupe; and involved in various committees with St. Joseph's Hospital and local schools. He was the recipient of many honors and awards, including Washington County Fair's "Vic the Chick," a "Real Hero" by the local Red Cross and the Clifford Nelson Volunteer leadership award. He ultimately hoped he served as an inspiration to young people "to pick a cause and give it their all."

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Vic's life will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church at 6 p.m. The family will greet relatives and friends preceding the service at the church from 2-5:30 p.m. A private burial will be held the following morning at Holy Angels Cemetery.
