Devoted mother, wife and daughter Rose Angela Albertoni, 87, passed away on Sept. 16 in Santa Maria.
Rose was born on Sept. 5, 1920, in Seeley, California. She attended schools in Santa Maria, including Santa Maria High School. Rose worked as a cook on several dairies on the Central Coast while growing up, and she continued her passion for cooking while raising her family. She met Arthur Albertoni while working as a cook at a dairy at Live Oak Diary in Buellton, and they were married in December 1952.
Rose had many areas of interest. She loved to travel, and enjoyed taking trips with the Senior Travel Club. She particularly liked the beauty of the desert. As anyone who witnessed her lushly landscaped yard and immaculate garden would attest, she was well-known for her green thumb, and loved visiting horticulture exhibits. A longtime member of the Santa Maria Valley Garden Club, she was particularly fond of her cacti and roses. She was also fond of visiting the Reagan Library. But perhaps her greatest love was lawn-bowling.
She was a member of the Italian Catholic Federation and the Santa Maria Lawn Bowlers Association.
Rose is survived by children Virginia Graziano (Joe) of Pacific Grove, California; George Albertoni (Lucy) of Negro Occidental, Philippines; Elizabeth Nicola of Santa Maria; Jo Ann Woods of Santa Maria; Patricia Stillman (Bill) of Santa Rosa, California; and Annette Miller (Ken) of Henderson, Nevada. She's also survived by her sister Anna Hartman (Ervin) of Santa Maria, and grandchildren Rosemary White of Santa Maria; Roman Ramos of Los Angeles, California; Nicole Macy of Palo Alto, California; Edwin Albertoni of San Diego, California; Don Stevenson (Dixie) of Naples, Florida; Katie Carroll of Santa Maria; James Cullum of Santa Maria; and Shannon Cullum of Santa Rosa; niece Diane Sheen(Chuck), nephew Fred Hartman of Santa Maria and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Santos and Mary Martingnago, and husband, Arthur Albertoni, and great Granddaughter Chelsea Rose Stevenson.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to Majestic Home Care, Primrose care facility, Marian Medical West, and Marian Hospice for their care and support throughout this year.
