Edith Albert Beckendorf, age 106, of Bear Creek, Pa., died March 22, 2004, in Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., where she last resided. She was the wife of the late William Beckendorf, who died in 1965.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Wilson ALbert and Kate (Werlin) Albert.

She attended grammar school and graduated from Wilkes-Barre High School. To further her education, she took various writing and English courses and received her degree. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing polo, tennis and swimming. Her main interest was music, playing piano, organ and composing music. She was organist at the Bear Creek Chapel and always had a special Thanksgiving and Christmas program with the youth group.

She was employed at Wilkes-Barre Lace, C.W. Post College in Long Island and Maternal Health of Pennsylvania in Wilkes-Barre. She continued working until she was 80 years young. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of the Irem Temple Country Club.

Survivors are nephews, Wilson Taylor, Bethlehem, Pa.; and George Taylor, Frankford, Del.; great-nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Emily Albert Bastian.

The service will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday from the First United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice Community Care at the Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., or the charity of the donor's choice.
