He resided in Fairfield County, Connecticut prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 5, 1941, prior to the war, in Hartford, Connecticut. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Shipping and receiving clerk and also as Single, without dependents.

Edgar was "Killed In Action" while on a bomber escort to Romilly Sur Seine, France when they were attacked by some enemy Fw190's. It is believed that his P-47 was shot down and crashed near Augerville, France during the war.

He was awarded the "Distinguished Flying Cross", Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart.
