Brian E. Albers, DVM A beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and follower of the Lord, whose humor and zest for life touched all those who knew him. Born in Joliet, IL on August 31, 1942 to Elmer A. Albers, MD and Elizabeth Beutien Albers. The oldest of two boys (brother Bruce), Brian was raised in Lockport, IL. In 1960 he entered the University of Illinois where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1969. He moved his family to Tacoma to begin small animal practice and in 1972 he bought what is now The Pet Doctor in Lakewood. He is survived by his much beloved family; wife Sarah, son Jason of Tacoma, daughter Rebecca Clarke (Ross) and grand-daughters Juliete and Charlotte Clarke of New Zealand. His professional memberships include American Animal Hospital Assoc., American Veterinary Medical Assoc., Past-President of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Assoc., and Veterinary Leadership Group. Brian passionately enjoyed his hobbies including flying; he received his pilot's license in 1962. He loved trains of all sizes, especially steam and collected toy trains including 7 1/2" gauge that one can ride. Some other interests were salmon fishing, travel, his pets and especially dear to him was his retreat in New Zealand where he could enjoy the wind and the waves and spending time with his grand daughters. He was a member of the University Place Presbyterian Church, was on the board of Palmer Scholars, Lockport Lodge F&AM and was a Past-President of Kiwanis of Clover Park.
