KINGS MOUNTAIN - Donnie "Don" Ray Albea, 67, passed away March 3, 2009, at his home.
Don fought a courageous battle with cancer for sixteen months with every need being met by his loving wife, who looks forward to the day they will meet again.
Don was born Sept. 2, 1941, to the late William Buford and Nola Mae Jarvis Albea, who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by sisters, Doris Albea, Nita Sessoms and Jessie Jordan.
Don was a retired Marine, Gunnery Sergeant. He served for twenty years and was very proud of his service to our country. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a retired truck driver from Fed-Ex Ground and had driven a tractor trailer for twenty eight years. The last six years his wife drove with him. He was a member of David Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.
He is also survived by his loving wife, Wanda Day Albea, to whom he was married for twenty two years; daughters, Tia Ewing of Davenport, Iowa, Lia Albea of Raleigh, NC, Mia Albea of Kings Mountain, NC; two step sons, Shane Costner of Cherryville, NC and Todd Dills of McBee, SC; grandchildren, Kayla, Tyree, Destiny, Donna and Micha; one brother, Tyson Albea of China Grove, NC. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Bill Jordan of Statesville, NC and Ray Seamon of Advance, NC; two special cousins, Mickey Beck and Joyce Buhler and dear friend, Dr. Andrew Light.
Interment will be in Westview Gardens in Bessemer City.
