Ms. Gloria Lopez Alarcon, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2009. She was born in Ysleta, TX to the late Jose J. and Amada Lopez. She was the youngest of nine children always loving, caring and responsible. She worked as a teacher's aide in the Ysleta ISD in 1977; then moved to Los Angeles, California in 1987 to work for the Pasadena ISD and retired in 1999. In 2003 she decided to move to Las Cruces, New Mexico to be closer to family. She is survived by her children; James Hodgin, Michael Alarcon, Henry Alarcon, Gloria Ramirez, Sylvia Madrid; brother, Paul Lopez; sister, Esther Lopez, nine grandchildren, two great-grand children with one on the way. A special thanks to everyone who loved and helped care for our mother. Pallbearers include James Hodgin, III (Honorary Pallbearer), Erik Borrego, Hector Ramirez, Jr., Adam Ramirez, Phillip Ramirez, Bryan Alarcon, and Amada Madrid. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2009 from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home Chapel with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (Old Mission); interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
