I have found grandfather's Manuel actual birth date. It is stated that he was born July 19, 1884 in Santa Ysabel, Burgos Tamaulipas, Mexico, and christened August 12, 1887 in Nuestra Señora de Loreto Burgos, Tamaulipas, Mexico. On the tombstone the birth date is November 20, 1885. The priest of San Fernando Church recorded the following in the baptism record:

En la Villa de Mendez a los 12 días mes de agosto de 1887 el cura de San Fernando
encargado de esta bautizé solemanente y puse los Santos Oleos y Sagrado Chrisma á
un niño a quién puse por nombre José Manuel Alaniz el que nacio el 19 de Julio de
1884 en Santa Yabel y es hijo de Louis Alaniz y María de Jesus Mascorro. Fueron
sus padrinos Quillermo Guerra y Candelaria Guerra a quienes adverti su obligación
y parentisco. Para constancia lo firmo: Antonio Tijerina

In the Villa of Mendez on August 12, 1887 the priest of San Fernando in charge of this baptism and place the
Holy Oyments and Holy prayer to a boy who was named José Manuel Alaniz who was born on
July 19, 1884 en Santa Yabel and son of Louis Alaniz and María de Jesus Mascorro. His godparents were
Quillermo Guerra and Candelaria Guerra to whom I gave the charge and right of parenthood. I sign: Antonio Tijerina

He and his brother José Juan Alanis were baptized on the same day. My grandfather, Manuel Mascorro Alaniz, was a carpenter and barber. He helped build Spohn Hospital, Corpus Christi Jail, Hotel Nueces in Corpus Christi, and was hired by the contractor who built the ranch house for the Kenedy family at La Parra ranch in South Texas. He continued to do carpentry work for the Kenedy family, and commuted to Sarita where he was a part-time barber and lived with his family. His youngest daughter, Tencha, said that his barber chair is in a museum in Raymondville, Texas. He moved his family to Kingsville in 1921- using mule wagon to transport their belongings. My father, who was about 8 years old, recalls this move as an adventure. He and his brother, Alberto, run behind the wagon all the way to Kingsville, Texas (15 miles), stopping occasionally to shoot at rabbits. Their aim apparently was not good because of all the rabbits that they shot at, they killed one.

They moved into a house that my grandfather built on Richard Street, 300 block of Little Mexico section of Kingsville. It is believed that Little Mexico existed since the establishment of Kingsville on July 04, 1904, but there isn't any documentation exactly when it was declared "Little Mexico".
