Billy Cecil Akins, 63, died Tuesday at Memorial Medical Center of Savannah after a brief illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County and the owner of Northside Amoco for 21 years. He was employed with King Finishing Co. and attended Middleground Primitive Baptist Chursh.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Hollingsworth Akins, Statesboro; one daughter, Patsy Sye, Statesboro; one son, Wayne Akins, Statesboro; one sister, Thetis Campbell, Statesboro; and three grandchildren, Patti Akins, Bessie Sye, and Leigh A. Wright, all of Statesboro.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Shepard Funeral Home with Elder Steve Taylor and Elder Tom Deal officiating. Burial will be in the Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Hollingsworth, James Hollingsworth, Wallace ....., Larry Shaw, Bill Ferguson, Gerald Powell, Jimmy Kitchens and Tommy Lewis.
Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of King Finishing.
The family requsts that memorial contributions be made to Middleground Primitive Baptist Church, 1298 Old Register Road, Statesboro 30458.
