STATESBORO -- Mrs. Mattie Lizzie Akins Hodges, 90, died Oct. 19 at Sunbridge Rehabilitation and Care for Statesboro.
The Albany native was a longtime resident of Arcola. She owned Akins Grocery for 42 years and was a 65-year member of Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She was the widow of Henry Hodges and Elijah Akins.
SURVIVORS: a son and daughter-in-law, Brooks and Loretta Akins of Brooklet; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl and Robert Swint and Helen Lee, all of Brooklet; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL: was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Hodges-Turner-Anderson Funeral Home, burial in Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
