Cynthia Adeline Moon was born April 6, 1874 to Robert and Elizabeth Hodges, who came from South Carolina and moved to Missouri and departed this life on April 20, 1960.
During the Civil War the buswackers tried to burn their house, but Elizabeth managed to put the fire out and saved their home.
Cynthia married John Porter Akin, son of A.B. and Nancy Ellen Hodges. To this union five children were born: Maudie, Bernie, Clint, Bethel and Elbert.
John and Cynthia made their home on the old Moon homestead, where they farmed and raised livestock. They became active in church and comunity activities.
