Mildia J. Akin, age 96, of Titusville, Florida, formerly of Bowdon Jct., Georgia, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born July 18, 1914 in Carroll County, GA, the daughter of the late Earnest Colquitt and Ezma McCray Johnson. Earlier in her life, Mrs. Akin worked as a seamstress for Cluett Peabody in Bremen, GA. She was a longtime member of Harmony Baptist Church in Bowdon Jct. where she had lots of friends and was loved by all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luna Eugene Akin; sisters, Hazel Harden, Mozelle Hughes, Lois Adams and Willie Mae Akin; brother, Clovis Johnson.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, 3 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service conducted July 3 at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel, Carrollton, with Rev. John Whetstone and Rev. Anthony Puckett officiating. Interment in Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery.
