~Funeral services were held at the Pentecostal Holiness Church Friday afternoon for Mrs. Carrie Akin, who died last Wednesday, October 4, 1950, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Howard (Minnie Irene) Mannon. Reverend Lonnie Smith of Ponca City and Rev. M. L. Jernigan, pastor of the Wagoner Church, conducted the service. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Hersman Funeral Home.
Mrs. Akins, who was 73, was born in Cherokee County and lived in and around Wagoner all of her life. She was born October 17, 1876.
Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. Howard Mannon and Mrs. Roy (Lula Edith) McCuan of Wagoner, and Mrs. F. L.(Lydia Lee) Lancaster of Oklahoma City; three sons, Arch, Wagoner; Frank of Oklahoma City; and Oscar of Lewis, Kansas and 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Cocke, Leonard Holloway, Bert Norman and Louis Norman, Roy Edison and Frank Piersall.
