Ansil James "A.J." Akers, age 93, of Versailles, passed away Saturday evening, September 30, 2006, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. He was born February 25, 1913, in Goodland, Missouri, a son of Edgar and Emma Bell Akers. He was united in marriage in 1937 with Lila L. Montgomery. Mr. Akers was a retired foreman for Fairmont Dairy, and was a member of the Versailles Masonic Lodge #320 A.F. & A.M. He is survived by his wife, Lila L. Akers of the home; one daughter, Deloris "Dee" Williams and her husband Howell, of Versailles; two granddaughters, Laurie Himes of Versailles, and Kim Williams of Independence; eight great grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; one brother, John L. Akers and wife Esther, of Sullivan, MO, a half brother Berlin Dudley, a half sister Mary Davis, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Stella Fryman, Willard Akers, Lowell Akers, Mildred Mahurin, Marie Fears, Clyde Akers and Bill Akers. Funeral and Masonic services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Interment will be in the Versailles Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his great grandsons, Kristian Tucker, Sean McEnaney, Ryan McEnaney, Corey Williams, Eric Gemmill, and Matthew Williams.
