Georgia Lee Akers, age 86, of Denison, TX, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, TX. Georgia was born September 26, 1932, in Kansas, to Lee Turner and Hazel Alice Knoesler Turner. In Georgia’s former years, she was employed in clerical work as a book keeper.

Georgia Lee Turner Akers passed away at Texoma Medical Center on Wednesday June 29, 2019. She was born on September 26, 1932 in Jetmore Kansas to Lee and Hazel Turner. She married Doyle Akers on March 6, 1952 and they were married for 56 happy years. Georgia is survived by her Aunt Dorothy Dickinson (95) of Kansas and nephews Steve and Kem Akers of Yakima, Washington.

Georgia loved traveling with Doyle in his journalism career to Houston, Santa Fe New Mexico, and finally settling in Denison, TX, always assisting with her camera. Later they opened a store in Cherry Mound and she had a bookkeeping business. Georgia was a member of the Waples United Methodist Church in Dension. She considered everyone there as her family.

A celebration of her life will be held at Waples United Methodist Church, 820 W. Main, Denison TX 75020 on Wednesday July 10, 2019 at 4:00PM. Instead of flowers please make a donation to the church in her name.
