Kris graduated from Dunbar High School in 1988. She served with the 130th Air National Guard during Desert Storm. She was a wonderful nurse who was passionate about her geriatric patients.
She loved her Lord and her family. She was a wonderful landscape and Koi pond designer. She was an artist. Kristi loved her pets, and every stray or injured animal had an ally in her. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She was an organ donor.
Kris is survived by her best friend and husband, Michael David Guthrie of Largo; her mother, Patricia and stepfather, Mike Skeens, of Dunbar; father, John Akers and stepmother, Lynn, of Charleston; brother, Scott Cowley of Cross Lanes; and sisters, Jennifer Cowley of Dunbar, Elizabeth, Amanda and Molly Akers, all of Charleston; stepsister, Margie Skeens of Charleston. Grandparents, John and Nell Akers of Marmet, Willis Bosley of Buckhannon, and the late Alma Lee Bosley. Step-grandparents, Kenneth and Oredo Cutlip, Clyde and Millie Skeens, and Fran Skeens; in-laws, Nancy and Marion Guthrie, Terri Heiner, and Mark and Beth Guthrie of Charleston; five nieces; one nephew; and beloved aunts and uncles. She is also survived by her loving pets, Snuggles, Church, and her Koi fish.
