LAMAR COUNTY ECHO: ’Horace C. Aker of Roxton died at 2:05 p.m. Wed., July 14, at St. Joseph’s Services for 2 p.m. Fri., July 16, at 1st Un.Meth.Ch. Roxton with Rev. Victoria Davidson. Fry & Gibbs. Masonic rites. Born in Cocke County, TN. son of Rufus Jefferson & Margaret Rosa Denton Akers. Schooled in OK. & married Cora Belle Henry on April 20, 1924, at Tribbey, OK. Lived in OK. until 1942 & moved to Roxton where he was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad. Lived in Roxton until 1961, moved to Wolfe City until 1966 when he retired. Returned to Roxton & lived there since. Member 1st Un.Meth.Ch., Roxton & Roxton Masonic Lodge. Served on Roxton School board. Surviving are his wife; 3 daughters, Mrs. J.R. ‘Beatrice’ Roden, Arlington, Mrs.K. C. ‘Pauline’ Hatanville, Roxton & Mrs. Eugene ‘Ruthie’ Starks, Roxton; 3 sons, C.Clifford, W.Columbia, L.R., Houston, & Larry W. Akers, Arlington; 19 grandchildren, 7 great grand children, 6 sisters, Mrs. Racheal Savage, Hemit,CA., Mrs. Leona Loy, Meeker, OK., Mrs. Mary Griffith, Paul’s Valley,OK., Mrs.Ellen Spradlin, Homeland,CA., Mrs. Zell Campbell, Ft.Worth, & Mrs. Juanita Shannon, Wanette, OK., a brother, Bill, Visalia, CA.
