Sister Estelle Airoldi, a Sister of St. Anne, known in religion as Sister M. Therese-Estelle, died at the age of 84 at Marie Esther Health Center in this city on Saturday, January 5, 2013. She was in her 65th year as a Sister of St. Anne. She was the daughter of the late Philippe and Elise (Fredette) Airoldi and the youngest of six children. Born in Holyoke, MA., she attended and graduated from the former Precious Blood Elementary and High Schools. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Anna Maria College, a Master's degree in Education from St. Michael's College and a degree in Education from the University of Montreal. In 1946, she entered the novitiate of the Sisters of St. Anne in Lachine, Quebec and made vows in 1948. From then until 1992, she taught in Elementary and High schools sponsored by the Sisters of St. Anne in Quebec, Canada and then became the Chief Financial Officer for the Sisters in her region. In 1992, she returned to the United States and served in Marlborough, until her death, as the Assistant Province Treasurer for the Sisters of St. Anne (USA). Sister Estelle was predeceased by her three brothers and two sisters. In addition to her sisters in community, she is survived by her sister-in-law Mrs. Lucille (George) Airoldi, of Chicopee, MA, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, dear cousins and lifelong friends. The wake will take place at St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Rd. East, Marlborough, MA on Tuesday, January 8, from 2-4 pm followed by a prayer service and from 6-7:30 pm. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 9 at 10 am in the Convent chapel with burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Marlborough. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough, MA 01752. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne Retirement Fund or to a charity of your choice.
