Calvin was married to Letitia Storey, on 5/7/1845.
Before moving to Madison in 1856, Calvin Ainsworth, practiced law in Concord, New Hampshire. Even becoming the law partner, of former President, Franklin Pierce.
While in Madison, Calvin, continued practicing law, and even became a police judge.
It was said that Ainsworth, "posessed excellent qualities of mind and heart."
