Donald Bernell Aiken, 83, joined his sweetheart, the late Mary Jean Lee, on Friday, July 22, 2011 at his home in Manti after a long illness. He was born October 15, 1927 in Castle Dale, UT and grew up in Spring City, UT. He is the son of Terrance W. and Crystal B. Johansen Aiken. He married Bonnie Lee Robert June 9, 1949 in Elko, Nevada and had two daughters, Mickie & Trudie, the loves of his life. Their marriage later ended in divorce. He married Mary Jean Lee Miller, March 13, 1983 in Ely, NV. She preceded him in death February 10, 2002.

He resided in Las Vegas, Nevada for 53 years, returning to Utah in 2007 to live near his daughter and son-in-law, Mickie and Dennis Hansen.

"Bernell" drove truck most of his life and belonged to the Western Conference of Teamster's union. In Las Vegas he drove for Aiken building Products and IML, driving 3,000,000 miles without an accident.

He was proud to serve his country in the Army Air Corps (United States Air Force) and was stationed in Japan during the World War II Occupation of Japan.

He loved everything involving the outdoors and used any excuse to go camping, fishing, and hunting. He taught his daughters a love for all living creatures and the importance of caring for nature.

He has six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren with three more on the way and two great-great grandchildren. Sisters: Betty (Grant) Goodwin Nielson, Meeker, CO; Colleen (Robert) Luke, Las Vegas, NV; Lou Dean (George) Shepherd, Twin Falls, ID; Kay (Dan, deceased) Sorensen, Salt Lake City; Brother: Gerry J. (Barbara) Aiken, Spring City, UT. Preceded in death by daughter, Trudie Lee Aiken; parents; brother, Terrance ReVerl Aiken; sisters: Nancy Aiken, and Lois (Elvin, deceased) Hansen, Blackfoot, ID.

Viewing and family memorial services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary, 195 West 100 North, Manti. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. in the Beaver Mountain View Cemetery, 600 North 600 East, Beaver, with military rites. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
